The spiral welded pipe unit is a standard finalized unit developed and improved by DORCO Heavy Industries on the basis of absorbing the essence of foreign forming process technologies and combining with the actual domestic situation. ▶ The production process of the spiral welded pipe unit: The raw materials are strip steel coils, welding wires, and welding fluxes. All of them must pass strict physical and chemical inspections before being put into use.
The head and tail of the strip steel are butt-welded. Single or double wire submerged arc welding is adopted, and after being rolled into a steel pipe, automatic submerged arc welding is used for repairing welding.
Before forming, the strip steel goes through processes such as leveling, edge trimming, edge planing, surface cleaning, conveying, and pre-bending.
An electric contact pressure gauge is used to control the pressure of the oil cylinders on both sides of the conveyor to ensure the stable conveying of the strip steel.
Externally controlled or internally controlled roller-type forming is adopted.
A weld seam gap control device is used to ensure that the weld seam gap meets the welding requirements. The pipe diameter, mismatch amount, and weld seam gap are all strictly controlled.
Both internal and external welding adopt single-wire or double-wire submerged arc welding with Lincoln welding machines from the United States, thus achieving stable welding quality.
An air plasma cutting machine is used to cut the steel pipe into single pieces.
Each batch of steel pipes must undergo a strict inspection system, checking the mechanical properties of the weld seam, chemical composition, fusion condition, surface quality of the steel pipe, and passing non-destructive flaw detection inspection. Only after ensuring that the pipe manufacturing process is qualified can formal production be carried out.
▶ Fully automatic steel pipe hydraulic pressure testing machine
The hydraulic pressure testing machine is mainly used for conducting pressure tests on welded pipes, and it has the functions of computer recording, storing, printing, and presenting test results. It has the advantages of high efficiency, high test pressure, and strong safety. The pipe diameter range is Φ20-Φ3500mm, and the test pressure is 10-110MPa.
Process flow: Loading the pipe — Connecting the pipe — Filling with water — Pressurizing — Maintaining the pressure — Releasing the pressure — Draining water — Unloading the pipe.
▶ Fully automatic pipe end facing and beveling machine
The pipe end facing and beveling machine is mainly used for facing the pipe ends of welded pipes and processing the bevels. It is equipped with a profiling beveling cutter, and the processed bevels are uniform and beautiful. The processing range of the pipe end facing and beveling machines provided by our company for steel pipe manufacturing enterprises covers a steel pipe diameter of φ20mm-φ3500mm, and at the same time meets standards such as API-5L, API-5CT, BS1387-85, ASTM, and GB9711.
Process flow: Loading the pipe — Connecting the pipe — Clamping — Facing and beveling the pipe end — Releasing the fixture — Unloading the pipe.
▶ Ultrasonic flaw detector:
It will automatically alarm and spray marks for defects, and workers will adjust the parameters accordingly;
The parts of the weld seam with continuous ultrasonic flaw detection marks will be rechecked by manual ultrasonic and X-ray inspection;
For the repaired defects, they will be subject to non-destructive inspection again until it is confirmed that the defects have been eliminated;

This inspection system is seamlessly connected to the entire production line and meets the control and management process requirements of steel pipe manufacturers. The automatic weld seam recognition technology facilitates the automatic control in the inspection preparation stage; it has a database, and the inspection parameters of the same product can be automatically loaded with one-click calling; the entire system has a high degree of automation for operation and inspection and has an extremely high market share in domestic steel pipe production lines.
